1. Choose the Right Location
Off the ground: Use pallets, bricks, or a firewood rack to keep wood elevated. This prevents moisture and pests from creeping in.
Good airflow: Pick a spot with plenty of ventilation. Air circulation helps the wood dry out and stay dry.
Sun exposure: If possible, store wood where it gets direct sunlight. This is less relevant for our kiln-dried logs as moisture content is already below 20% (but helpful advice for seasoned wood)
2. Cover the Top, Not the Sides
Use a tarp or waterproof cover to shield the top from rain and snow.
Leave the sides open to allow air to flow through the stack. Trapping moisture is a recipe for mould and rot.
3. Stack Smart
Stack wood loosely but securely. Crisscrossed ends or a log cabin-style stack can help with stability and airflow.
Keep stacks away from your home (at least 5 feet) to avoid attracting insects like termites.
We deliver our logs in handy nets and are happy to stack directly in your woodstore
